Went into tosco Yorkie today - wee sa on till was delightful and accepted my apgs. Old trout turns up and says we don't take those any more - we were told not to take them yesterday.

Young delightful sa says "well I wasn't told so I am taking them until I am told not to. There is a nice man comes in here every week and he gives them over so I am going to take yours". Fess up was it you Raven?:D;)

    Hi Peeps,
Hoping that the new shiny thread is a good time to join you all, if you,ll have me!

I've been 'poorly bad' for a while and been surfing/lurking but today, on the way to hospital, visited MR T, armed with info from you lovely peeps. Mr Martin on radio when I left the car telling peeps about 1p chocs!!

Found 'Finest Collection still scanning at 1p. Barcode ends 410993' and the scanner, which was switched on, for a change, confirmed this, I just took 3, did the meal deal and bought a few more random items.
Used self scanner, but needed help!
Lovely young man helped!! I was feeling guilty (why?) and I guess looking more dizzy/demented than usual!:rotfl:
Anyway, result, 3x1p chocs, meal deal, 2 puds etc, random items, pyrex dish (but no loss of stickers:j) and £5.47 coupon.

On way back, bought another meal deal, no chocs left:eek:and when I presented aforementioned coupon SA said, I've never seen one for this much before!!

    PS
Have been writing this post for the last 4 hours, but in the meantime have eaten the meal deal, drank 1/2 the wine and given 2 boxes of chocs away to visitors!

Oh and EJ v Avios is a simple calculation for me.

EJ cost is £300ish plus marginally more in diesel, no difference on parking.

Avios tickets cost often equates to about £320 for 4 returns after you factor in the cost of getting the Avios plus the taxes.

    Ostensibly not much in it.

But I'll use the Avios more usefully at Xmas and Easter when if you get your timing wrong the cost of buying a real ticket could easily double or triple.

Ie £300 or so in real money now preserves the Avios for later.

Interesting. I'll remember that for the future. For our next trip EJ was about the same price as the BA taxes & charges I didn't factor in the cost of the Avios because we have loads to spare. Made the decision to go BA because the flight is generally nicer, better food, seats recline and better luggage allowance (2 suitcases each). We are still at the stage where an extra suitcase of home stuff is useful.

It was only when I was going one extra seat on the return leg only that I realised the outward taxes are about £130 but the return only £37! May make sense in future to fly outward EJ and back with BA Avios!
