cheapest sight test?

I'm due for another trip to the opticians (don't it come round fast?) but would like to spend as little as possible. I'm assuming that its a standard quality of test wherever you go? Is it a standard price or is it worth shopping round?
OF COURSE my sight matters and I don't want to cut corners. But can I make it cost me slightly less?
Live in a City so we probably have all the high street spec shops you'd expect. Can anyone help? (And do I get points if I go to Boots??? I LOVE advantage points: does that change the advice?)

http://www.danda.co.uk/opticians/appointment/ lets you book an eye test at half price online. But there are sometimes "Free Test" vouchers in magazines so it's worth checking.
The quality of the test is the same irrespective of what you pay, points or not and you can ask for the prescription and then go and buy your glasses from one of the discount online providers such as Glasses Direct - Home Page however there could be complications if the glasses weren't right and you had an arguement between the prescription provider and the glasses maker.
After considering carefully I went for new specs from
Specsavers Uk but have been revisiting them every month since to have the frames repaired.

I think you get Tesco ClubCard points at D&A (site Ted mentioned is them) although I'm not 100% sure. I've always been very happy with their service, if that helps! But I don't wear glasses, just get my eyes checked there.Signature removed for peace of mind0
