Treatment for Pityriasis Versicolour/Tinea Versicolour

Hi guys

Hoping to find someone who has had this condition and treated it.

I've been to GP and been diagnosed with Pityriasis Versicolour (also know as Tinea Versicolour). To those who have had it, you will know it is a non-contagious fungal skin complaint which presents itself as small, pink (sometimes darker) spots commonly found on the torso.

The GP mentioned a couple treatments and I've heard of a couple more. These include Ketoconazole, Selenium Sulphide, Daktarin and Selsun.

So I was wondering if anyone has treated this before with any of the treatments mentioned, and what they found effective.

Years ago my GP told me to use Selsun - works a treat and the patches are usually gone within 48h or so Basically you put a small amount of Selsun in a container, add water to end up with a 50/50 mix, give a good shake and pat it on the affected area and that's it. A small bottle of Selsun is less than £3 (just had to buy some a couple of weeks ago...) and it definitely works (it's the selenium sulphide in it that does the trick).
