Change of Career

Hi there
I'm looking to change my career and go into Accounting. As I'm currently unemployed I wasn't sure if I should first do a distance AAT level 2 course or try get a job in that line and then study through the business.
I've tried to apply for junior or assistant jobs but having been a hairdresser for 15yrs doesn't seem to be on my side, even though I've just come back for 12months working in Botswana helping in accounts department.
Am confused how to go about.
Any advice would be good

If you are currently unemployed, you could get funding for AAT up to Level 2 through your local FE College. You may want to contact them as they may put you through the Level 1 first which is a relatively short introduction level course for people with no accounting experience. I would try and get experience at the same time, you could look into an Accountancy Apprenticeship as the AAT level 2 is both the taught and assessed element (rather than Diploma & NVQ seperate like most apprenticeships).0

With no experience in accounts you will find it hard to get a job in accounts since there are people out there like myself with 20 years exp who are struggling, but good luck,We’ve had to remove your signature.
