I'm afraid I haven't answered your poll question because I don't understand it. Has what made me think? Made me think about what?

I think I am getting from your post that you are frustrated that your BR now means you are unable to access credit? I really feel credit is not the solution to your problem and imo payday loans are a complete nightmare and shouldn't be considered and preventing access to such things is a good thing.

Have you been to the CAB for advice? Another avenue that might be better than that is to contact https://capuk.org/ and ask to speak to a local advisor, they can help you with expert advice wrt your finances and also importantly signpost you to local organisations that can help you, food and clothing banks for example, and places that might award grants and financial support.

I'm sorry you are feeling so angry and frustrated and down about things, I do hope that you can access some support through CAP.

I only wanted to make people think about what they were saying to others in regard this very upsetting topic. As for the comments I do not live in Africa do I? Well I might as well. I was looking for some support in regard to my position but all I am seeming to get is sanctimonious answers from someone who has obviously not had problems in their life, and who also thinks they are able to read between the lines, or are phsycic and tell me that I sound angry. No that is not the case. Hopeless and depressed maybe but not angry. The comments have not done anything to help and make me feel a total failure. I am not stupid, I have got a degree and I know about the CAB - useless, DSS - useless and as for food banks and clothes banks, least said. Thanks. Wont be posting on this site again. All I seem to hear are negative comments and holier than thou attitudes. Congratulations on your understanding and humanity, second to none!!

I also didn't understand what the poll was asking and I do agree with Pippa that a loan wouldn't help your financial struggle in the long term as you would then have to find the money to repay them.

I believe a lot of people on here DO understand what you're going through. I just lost my job 2 months ago and haven't even had one interview! I just put in a claim for jobseekers but that hasn't come through yet either. One thing I am glad about is that I didn't apply for any credit cards after my bankruptcy as I know that however tough it is (and it is tough!) I don't have the worry about any added debt to pay - I just have to find my monthly living expenses that are about £2,000 each month.

Any kind of help with the mortgage via housing benefit won't come through for 13 weeks either.

I am still glad I went bankrupt if that is what your poll is asking as that has nothing to do with the current situation I'm in and if I was to try to turn to credit to help out it wouldn't help at all.

Fiona I am sorry but do not understand why you feel the replies you received were not useful.
the replies were from people who have gone through bankruptcy and very difficult times too.
We are here to help and support each other during these time but frankly your attitude is not helpful.
I wish you luck and hope you find the answers you are looking for.

To the OP.....I, too, do not have a poll question to reply to...perhaps it needs a bit more information, first?

I also don't know where you have been getting adverse responses to your situation?

    Certainly not on this thread!

    Or forum!

As far as seeking advice is concerned, it helps to have a complete picture of circumstances.

CAB are usually quite good with advice, but initial contact may not be with a volunteer who has specific experience of debt issues.

However, they may be subject-matter-experts on teenage pregnancy, for example, or benefit claims?

With CAB, very often it is a case of getting referred to someone with specialist knowledge, I suspect [certainly was in my case!]

However, I can appreciate you are very depressed about your situation.. debt has this effect, as we see daily on here.

The problem is being able to cut through the fear of a bleak future, and be more objective about one's situation?

However, sadly you seem convinced everyone is against you.....but exactly what sort of response were you expecting?

we try to be practical and objective on here.....and we also strive to be positive.

But 99% of us have been exactly where you are now....at some point or other.

Or..to a greater or lesser degree.

So..you are not alone in what you are going through.

To start with...... perhaps a simple question?

Why did you petition your own BR if you felt it likely a creditor would petition for you?

You could have saved yourself the fees, for starters?

And the outcome would have been exactly the same.

Bankruptcy offers the opportunity to start afresh, without the baggage that became a millstone around one's neck.

But it isn't just the opportunity for a financial fresh-start....but also the opportunity to re-appraise what we find important in life.....?

A chance to shed the influences and encumberances our previous life styles came with?

BR will be no help if all we seek is to retain a semblance of our old lives. To restore what once was the status quo...

Sometimes, the chance of change BR brings might be more radical than first envisaged?
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

I am sorry that you are in such a dark place at the moment but Pippa's post was extremely helpful. She pointed you towards CAP to help you with your situation and gave you a link to them. So once you are feel able to function a little better then try and make some contact and see how they can help.

Also try putting you details in the turn2us calculater and see what that says you may be entitled to. Then you know what to be asking and fighting for.
