How long to get case records?

I was speaking a CSA operative about my change of circumstances when I started work (middle of March) and I enquired about what arrears were on my account.
She told me there was £254 but she was unable to tell me where they had come from. She said that she could send me my entire case records so I could look for myself and I said fine.
I don't really need files going back to 1998 just the last 12 months would do.
I have since decided that the arrears have built up as a result of 1 months missing maintenance deductions from my previous employer and several weeks of £5 JSA contributions (before they got their act together)...
How long do these records take to come through? Or should I assume that the request wasn't actually completed their end?? Is it actually possible to them just to send this information out???

I requested an account breakdown in October 2912. They said it would take 12 weeks. I received it 2 weeks ago.
The only reason I received it was because I called my MP and asked for their help. Many phone calls to the csa got me nowhere! MP had it on my doormat within a week :-)0 -

Thanks for that - I guess I won't expect to see it any time soon...

Ask them the timeframe. The day it hits that, ask your MP to intervene.0

It depends whether it was a full data request, or just an account statement showing money owed vs payment received for the last year or so.
To get your full records you normally have to send a payment for £10, and request your records in writing.0 -

I didn't request them - the adviser on the phone said that she would send them out...
I wasn't asked for any money and certainly wouldn't be interested in paying for them (at this moment)...

I know it's a typo error- year 2912- but that tickled me. Knowing the CSA that is a good time frame:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::T:T:T

If I was you I would take the offer up of them providing an account breakdown right back to day one...1998. It might prove very interesting for future reference. And keep all your paperwork.
From what you've implied in your postings it sounds like the CSA are up to their usual standards -ie not knowing what they are doing.0 -
Yes,do what sensemaya says get the whole data protection files from day 1 .You never know you may need it in the future. They take a request for this more seriously than asking for odd bits of info which are more likely to get lost! It keeps it all together, our file was about inch & a half thick. It's mostly in abbreviation so quite difficult to decipher at first but gets easier with practise & makes interesting bedtime reading !!All NINO's/addresses relating to the other party are blanked out with a big black marker. They have to allow 40 days still to appeal(think ours took after 35 days ) still-interesting as you only get 1 month to appeal on anything(luckily we had the right info already for our appeal)0
