Hi my husband decided to create a wonga account for the first time today with the intention of borrowing a SMALL account to,get my accident damage repaired on my taxi for non fault claim as they are taking to long the insurance to sort it out .He was refused as too many emails addresses .! We rang wonga and on 30th dec last year and 1st jan someone attempted and were granted over 600 in loans .It wasn't husband .....for sure !
They told us the debit card used ended 0637 which didn't match ours .Now fraud investigating they won't talk to us as he didn't open it !!!! Has anyone any idea what bank issues cards ending in 0637 .and what to do .we suspect his ex wife but can't be sure ,it's a big worry as soon as I am back to work it was intended for husband to get a debt relief order ( I'm partime as I am also his carer) as his ex wife so far has rung up debts with a catalogue and orange in his name and he is being pursued and police were not interested ! Thanks

The ending 0637 will not identify the issuer only the first 4 or so do that. You now need to get a credit report to see if that loan anything else is on there.0

Not really sure why you've put this on the bankruptcy board?
But anyway, the bank identification numbers are the first six numbers on the card...the last twelve are individual account identifiers so the last four tell you nothing. Sorry.“Procrastination is my middle name....well it would be if I could be ar**d to contact Deed Poll."0 -
Hi sorry was trying to put it in the debt relief order board due to hubby going to do one ,there isn't a fraud board ,I don't think .been up half the night worrying its not fair he needs to do a dro for money he hasn't borrowed and as soon as he told the catalogue ,wonga and orange he didn't open the accounts they refuse to talk to him .the catalogue wrote to his ex wife obviously as she sent a abusive email tonight laughing at him for trying to do her for fraud .as if she was going to admit she opened it ,but I say when he lives over 200 miles away why would husband order women's clothes to be delivered at his old home ? Sorry for being on wrong board:T better late than never, better to laugh than cry:j0

HI Tracy - yes it is a good idea to get your OH's credit report. That is how we found out about fraud in my OH's name, same thing this was a catalogue and they wouldn't speak to him either - doesn't make sense.
Regarding the Wonga loan, can't they tell you whose account the money went in to?
I hope you get this sorted!

No, data protection prevents an organisation telling you anything by law. When my child had their mobile phone stolen the company couldn't tell us the numbers the phone had called, the content of any texts or the locations the phone was being used in - all to protect the users data under law. Despite it being our phone and it being unlawfully taken.
OP, you can either get a CRA report for free from noddle.co.uk or pay £2 for one of the other two. There you should see the wonga account and you can then write to their data controller instructing them to amend their incorrect entry. Guidlelines on what to write can be adapted and/or used from the clean up your credit file sticky at the top of this forum."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0 -
Get a ref number from: http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/report_fraud
Give that to Wonga.
As said, check your credit reports, and get Wonga to remove anything that shouldn't be there. Tell them that if they do not remove any adverse info, then you will be taking the matter to the ICO and FOS and will giving an account to the OFT.
If there is nothing on your credit file, then just give Wonga the crime ref and tell them to deal with it. If they hassle you start a complaint with the FOS etc. Unless they go to court, they can basically get lost. And as it's fraud, it will never go near a court as they would get battered.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

City of London Police/ActionFraud want anyone who has been a victim of ID theft/fraud via a Wonga loan to contact them and report it.
