Depends what their contract says about attending events outside the normal working day (whatever that might actually be for a teacher)0 -
While I think it's nice for staff to attend, where do you draw the line? How many kids have to be involved for staff to attend, or is someone going to get upset because the teachers didn't go to little Johnnie's play?
I'm a teacher and do attend quite a few events that are 'out of school' as I enjoy them, and enjoy seeing the kids do well. However I would not like to be forced to go or expected to go. At the end of the day, it's not part of the job, it's extra and I might have other things to do.
