Tumble dryer not drying clothes!

SORRY. I did a search but I couldn't find why my tumble dryer is being really slow at drying and leaving clothes with a musty smell.
Am I being stupid? Do I have to do something to my TD to make it work more efficiently?:o

Are the filters clear?
If it is a condenser is the water tank emptied?
Have you opened it mid-cycle to make sure it is actually getting hot?
Are you over-filling it?LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
What pigpen said... or are you underfilling it? Mine doesn't like too light a load and needs a towel (or somesuch) to make the load heavier.
*whispers* we've had such warmth the last 2 days we've dried 3 loads on the line outside each day - lovely to catch up0 -
Also check that its actually turning as mine done that not too long ago and it turned out that the belt had snapped0

Okay, thanks. I will try and test all these things.:)This is the first tumble dryer I've had so I wasn't sure how you supposed to take care of them.
It's definitely hot when it's on but something is going wrong with it. I didn't know you had to clean the filters. I'm not even sure where they are on the machine. I will have to look online for the model information.
I might buy an outdoor dryer although the garden is titchy.:D
My oven doesn't seem to be working well at the moment. Why do things break down at the same time.:mad:0 -
Oops, I didn't realise you were supposed to clean the condenser every month. I haven't cleaned it ever.:o
That was the problem so hopefully it will work okay now.:)0 -
Some tumble dryers have a thermal cut out switch on the back so it will be well to check itBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
