Health & Safety at work Scotland

Can anyone please advise as to if there are Health & Safety guidelines in Scotland for places of employment which covers the basics such as, how many toilets should be provided, what eating/cooking/break facilities should be provided. This is for a mainly office based staff working at desks with computers.

If so can some kind person please point me in the right direction as to where I can look them up?

I fear this is most likely the wrong place to post but hopefully someone can answer or move!!

TIA

You should call ACAS. I've called them a few times about different stuff and they have been thoroughly helpful.

Or you could check their website, might be able to find an answer on there x
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

    1) H&S Legislation is reserved, so is set by the UK government rather than the Scottish Parliament. Law is the same in Scotland as it is in England, though prosecution is different.

    2) There are certain things which apply to all workplaces which are in legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and subsequent legislation. It would appear that the one which covers the issues you're referring to is the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 at http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1992/3004/contents/made.

    3) The regulations mainly refer to "Suitable and sufficient". They doesn't generally say what that term actually means.

    4) Google is your friend.
