To be honest I am pretty shocked too. How venal are this government? It is like those who are priced out and renting are being ground under foot as if they dont even count.

Those hoping to buy are getting some semblance of attention, though measures to 'help' them are in reality a front for boosting house prices, land values and developers.

Renters on the other hand a pretty much politically irrelevant.

Paragon lent £184 million for BTL according to their 2012 accounts.

To put that number in perspective.

HSBC advance around £59 million per working day in mortgage advances.

    So hardly making an impact.

    260 working days x 59 million pounds equals £15,340,000,000

    Are you serious?

You could say the purpose of tenants is to fund the financial well being of those who do bother. As one London landlord remarked - tenants are the cows, and are there to be milked. I'd imagine many politicians share this sentiment.

Think you've miscounted the number of working days in a year.

    Totally serious.

Combined gross mortgage lending in 2008 by Llloyds and Hbos was £78 billion.
