Hi sorry if this goes on a bit
Husband works for large plumbing /drains company has just been told today meeting in office tomorrow for gross misconduct basically came about as he is a supervisor they were short staffed asked to work a back shift this week at short notice even though it ment kids would be on there own for a hour there 10+14 not a massive prob as gran lives close by
5 oclock monday then informed its now a on call so can be out till all hours ( i started work at 6pm till 6 am) told manger that it wasnt easy accomadated but he got through work finished at 9pm
While out youngest fell hurt himself didnt seem like much but in morning was really swollen thought it may be broken
Hubby calls work says may be late in as kid going to hospital he wasnt ment to start till 10am
turns out sons arm fractured needless to say husband not happy informed manger when he went to work he wasnt doing call due to kids fall but would work till 7 as agreed
Nothing more was said untill today when told he had been using company vehicle out off hours gross misconduct !! no he has been there 2 1/2 years and always used vehicle never been mentioned before
now when he used vehicle on saturday it was to drop off car to garage run me home then he went to a garage to get tyres on van into office hand over paperwork then for a haircut
almost every one uses vehicle for personal use and there has never been a thing said any one think he has any come back
he is just off the mind to tell them sto stick job were sun dont shine

What does his contract say about personal use? Is his tax code adjusted to reflect this?0

contract says no personnal use .
But a sub paragraph goes on to say personnal use may be charged at an applicable fuel rate per mile0 -

Italics I would suggest are subjective, bold on the other hand I would suggest means don't use it for personal reasons.
But I would think about seeking legal advice on this one!Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

There is a difference between him just flouting company policy and taking company vehicles for personal use, and specifically being told they could do this. Why and how did your husband start taking the vehicle in the first place?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
