CCJ - Can it be removed?

I have a CCJ on my credit report that was applied on the 21/11/2007. I am in a posistion of getting it paid of now. Took my time I know :(

But if I paid it off in one go would it be removed or do I have to wait?

Many thanks

CCJs are never removed, they just change to satisfied. It will drop off your file after 6 years but you will always legally have to declare you had one when asked.

And if not enforced within 6 years, they have to go back to court to get in renewed and from what I read on here this is rarely granted as they have 6 years to get the money. Drops off your report after 6 years anyhow.

So you might be better sticking the money away and waiting until November. Depends on your morals. :)

In the future if applying for a mortgage, when the OP says he has had a CCJ in the past as they will ask, they will then ask for proof of settlement. So if there is not a great deal to pay, I'd rather settle it.

'never removed' from what? They're removed from the Register of Judgments, Orders and Fines after six years.

I think you mean the CCJ itself never actually expires, which is true, but after six years the creditor would need to apply to the court for enforcement and it's unlikely the court would allow it without a very good reason.

Never removed from the credit file, only drop off after 6 years, as per the original question. He was after getting it removed off his file after he paid.

Sorry, I thought you meant they're never removed as in they stay on forever, rather than that they're never manually removed :p
