No, I cannot afford to pay them more money, Just to currently keep a roof over our heads, feed and cloth us as a family is hard enough.

I am just scared of being taken to court and people find out, etc, the stigma attached and all that.

Don't worry about it. It's noone's business. If you feel obliged to respond to busybodies, just say you invited them to instigate court proceedings to stop them harassing you for more money.

You probably won't even have to attend court anyway if both you and the DCA agree to use the small claims court mediation service.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the media is allowed to attend these hearings, they're usually private and often held in judge's rooms rather than an actual court room. They're fairly informal, not large formal hearings. In other words there's little chance of anyone finding out unless you tell people yourself.

Ask them to WRITE to you to say that they are refusing £10 per month. This will shut them up for a while.

Remember, its YOUR money and YOU pay what YOU can afford, not what some scumbag tells you.

Send them a CCA request. If they don't have one they are stuffed as far as court action goes. From 1992 they may well not have one if you did ever indeed sign one.

I have however previously received a statement and copy of my signed agreement. I'm not convinced they will send anything else?

As they are threatening court, might be worth running the agreement past someone who knows about these things as it might be unenforceable if that old.

Worth having in your pocket if so just in case.
