cancellation of wedding dress

Options
Hi can anyone help?

My daughter ordered a wedding dress, paid 50% deposit which they said was none refundable

My daughter realised she made a mistake and cancelled the order but she signed a shop contact.

she emailed the shop and they say she must pay all the money.

Questions

1 why say the deposit is none refundablbe if they want all the money?

2 would she have to pay the balance or is there anything she is able to do.
she realises she has lost her deposit

Have a copy of this contract if needed.

thanks

    Has she signed anything?

Did the dress have any alterations made?
  • If she changed her mind the same day I would have thought she could get her money back.

The idea of the deposit is because the shop then needs to place an order for the dress with the designer, pays for it and it gets made/delivered to the shop.

So if a client backs out or changes their mind the shop isn't out of pocket for the dress they now have to sell at a discount because it will be a sale of a display dress.

In theory if you check the contract there should be a grace period of 24hours to cancel.

    I hope that helps
  • I think it depends on what is the rules being stated on the contract and it must be follow. But sometimes it can be arranged in a good way if you have good offer to the shop like only 50% will be given if it is really their rules.

This is sometimes what happens for some. But as for me, I have been dealing with Bridesire.com for quite a long time now and I really agree on their arrangement that they guarantee good service. You might try them for a pair of dresses and see the difference between them.:)
