moving and getting new mortgage - credit history

Hi there,

My current situation is that I own a flat which is valued at 145k, my current mortgage is with nationwide and is around £78k (all in my name). My girlfriend lives with me and we want to move to a house in the region of 180k.

I have a good credit history - Never missed a mortgage payment and have a 5k loan and a credit card payed off in full each month. However, 5 years ago, my girlfriend missed some mortgage payments and other bills when she split up with her partner. Since then, she has found it very difficult to get credit of any kind.

My salary is 26k, hers is 14.5k. Do you think we will have difficulty in obtaining a joint mortgage? Ideally I would like to stay with Nationwide, as I have had no problems with them

Many Thanks

5 years ago and precisely how many months?
If you owe a bank £25,000 you got problems.

If you owe a bank £500,000 they got problems.

    Go for it.................

Your girlfriend credit history will not show after six years. How close are you to that?

Hello. Go to http://www.experian.co.uk and get her credit file for around £2.50.

This will indicate what adverse history has been lodged.

As indicated by the previous post, her credit file will be clear after six years and it may be worth waiting a few months to save on interest charges.
