need help and advice- if anyone has any!

So... Let me start! Where do i start really?

Went for a job September 2011, luckily offered the job- was a lovely small family owned firm, wages matched with what i was on, 5 mins from home, ideal. Was offered a couple of promotions within a year, brilliant, took them, and was very happy. Fast forward to last year, company was taken over, so new boss, new way of working, to be honest completely new job. Im still under my old job description, but doing a completely new job with sales targets and everything that goes along with sales. Its not the job i wanted really. The problems i have are to do with the total lack of support, and the heavy pressure i am under, thats its making me totally sick.

All started off reasonably well when we were taken over, one of the guys i worked with left as he couldnt stand the new boss, i was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt as i didnt really know him. My targets at this stage were not ridiculous- i as i dont have any previous sales experience, and had been thrust into the role, expressed that perhaps i would need more help/support as i was new to it all. Promised the earth, but delivered nothing. Was supposed to get a customer list, last november, after months of asking, emailing, telephoning boss, i got it a few weeks ago at the start of April, along with a massive increase in sales targets, with no explanation how im supposed to acheive the targets (remember i have no experience) I have asked and asked but given no answers. I did up until fairly recently have a line manager, who was also useless, didnt talk, spoke to my customers for himself, before i found out what he was up to, mentioned this to my other boss and nothing was done about it. Everything seems to be stacked against me, i have asked for support, and help, nobody wants to give it to me, im chasing my tail and going round and round in circles and feel like im going mad.

Finally after all these months, i feel like im beaten, defeated, and its making me ill, sick in the mornings, dont want to go to work- i used to love my job, but this is jut so wrong.

I have been to the HR manager about it all, she sat there making excuses and told me she wasnt making excuses for him! I have tried speaking with my boss, about the problems, i even put everything down in an email before easter telling him i was worried about the targets i had been given, and asking if he could explain where i could find my targets- thinking that if i knew this i might be able to get somewhere, he is yet to reply to this, ive seen him twice since then, phoned him on othe matters, and mentioned it, he just says he hasnt had time to look.

Where do i go, what do i do? Sorry for the ramblings.....
Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!

  • What sort of advice? Your question was 'where do I go, what do I do', but it's hard to say 'you go into work, and do your job' or 'you go to the doctor and get signed off sick' or 'you go to the boss and put a grievance in' when we don't actually know what you are trying to achieve here.

Where do you want to go, what do you want to do?

The missing information for readers of your post is what was involved in the role before the changes?
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

I guess funky ribena has hit it on the head.

Option 1 - Where do I go and what do I do?
from just reading your post it sounds like you have exhausted all the leads you can follow in terms of support, - unless there is anyone else you can try

Option 2 - Go into work and do your job?
I appriciate that you are doing that at the moment, but you say your dreading going in and feeling ill. Have you actually said that to HR - blunty that your doing a job with no training,no support, and its going to end up being your not going to be meeting your targets

    - this then produces Option 2a
I'm guessing as your on sales / target driven then there is going to be performal appraisal - they could say your carp at the job - do you then say but I've been asking since xx/xx for help and its come to this. An apprisal is a 2 way communication system

    or

    Option 3
Go and see doctor - get signed off sick

From experience been there done that brought the tshirt - yep great when I was off work, sleeping normally, felt like a human being - then reality I have to go back to work, (I didn't as I was pregnant and I was able to say my role unsuitable - but I ended up resigning from the job - long Employment tribunal)

But this route - yep its breathing space but you have to go back to the situation, what is a week, 2 week going to do - your workload still be there for you.

Sorry if it has come across so blunt, but I really feel that your at the end of your tether - and it is time to say what do I want.

Maybe if it was me I would think where do I want to be in 6 months/yrs time - if the answer is not there - then start looking for another job, its a lot easier to go to a new job from an old one than try to go from being unemployed.

    (hope it helps) xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

It seems you have pretty much exhausted all options.
If it was me, I would be looking for a new job where you are going in actually knowing what the job is and you wanted and agreed to do.

    Crikey, it sounds like hell.
I would be getting my CV together ASAP and looking for a new job in which the management is more supportive, and/or the role fits my skills better.
