1. Internet petitions do very little as it is next to impossible to validate the signatures - hence why very few organisations take them seriously as they are so easy to run off.

2. Just because most people think it's a good cause, does not mean it is the right place to put this in.

lilmiss please don't be sorry for starting this thread. It's a legitimate website, home to a well know animal welfare society. For every person who sarcastically comments about saving seals, there are those of us who care about the welfare of the planet and the creatures that inhabit it.

Have you seen the price of a Fish supper at the Chippy!!!!

Realistically yes I do. I have direct debits set up for a number of charities and I also don't buy fur.

It's all about people doing/giving what they can. Noone is asking people to trek to Canada or anything, but if signing a petition or donating a few quid is too much to ask of people, then the world has no hope.
