Littlewoods closes stores
RETAIL group Littlewoods is to cut up to 3,200 jobs after announcing plans today for the closure of 126 of its Index catalogue-based outlets.
Littlewoods, which is owned by the Barclay brothers, said it would also sell the remaining 33 stores in the Index estate to Argos owner GUS.The news is the latest jobs blow in the retail sector, following the demise of the department store chain Allders and the 65-outlet Gadget Shop chain.

I think this is a bad thing overall, apart from the job losses. now argos is not gonna be on its hills any more (price wise). (oh dear)

Well I don't know. If Argos doesn't keep its prices competitive people will turn to the web for better prices and they wont sell their stuff. Then they will discontinue it and we can all buy it 50 - 75% off when it goes on the RO list.0

Rumour Has it that Primark are now the Favourites to bid for the stores not located in a Littlewoods Store
Have hard that they are looking at financing a deal that will prevent Argos from buying them.
Still Closing Down Sale should be soon as they will want to claw some finances back.
Should be quite interesting if it commenced on the same day as Argos issued there RO List.0
