i've saw the light....now i need help

Hi all - i'm noew here and jsut want to start of by saying how much help and inspiration everyone has been for me and i've only been reading the posts.

I've had my lightbulb moment and feel the need to clear the debt. It all came to a head when i went to the bank last week (9days after payday) and we were £210 OD. i had to take money out DH cc  to pay into the account so he didn't notice.

The basic run down for me is this - i'm married to a spender/golfer/head-in-the-sander and i'm responsible for all the bills etc.

We were in a bit of debt, needed a new car and ran short of cash when getting out garden done last year so we decided to take out a secured loan and only face 1 monthly repayment. This went well but no we have run up the CC again and i feel back to square 1.

The added problem is that i have 2 CC of my own which DD doesn't know about with the total os balance being £3000 for which i have nothing to show.

I feel asthough he is putting all the pressure on me and now i feel bad because we are in the doggy poo again.

We've got a wee boy at 3 and another at 3 months and my hopeing was that i didn't need to go back to work but after going to CAB today i've found out that we won't be entitled to anything extra in way of tax credits, only a council tax discout of £3 p/w. :T

We are getting money from MIL to get our back garden up - she insists that this is what the money is for - so i'm hoping it won't cost as much for the decking and we can use what's left to cover one overdraft.

Here is a breakdown of our debts:
My Overdraft - £200
OH Overdraft - £500
Joint overdraft - £600
Barclaycard CC - £850
Nationwide CC - £2000
Egg CC - £2000
Capital 1 - £4500
Picture Finance - £23,000
Mortgage - £65,000

total salary income per month - £2000

I've joined the cash back webssites, i'm helping in my uncloes chipshop twice a week making £60 extra on top of salaries, plus my child tax credits and child benefits making an extra £270 per month.

Can anyone help with some advice on what else i can do to make extra do to clear these stupid debt i've ran up again?

Hiya and welcome!!! well done for posting. we need to see a detailed list of all your income and expenditure to advise where you can make cutbacks etc. It is scary to put it all down, but be honest and include everything. There is a sticky up top for first time posters which tells you how to do your SoA (statement of affairs).

    Hi and welcome :hello:

I'm about to finish work for the week, so will have to be a quick post I'm afraid. Look at SouthernScousers sticky 'For New Posters' on the top of the board, and see if you can pull together a full SoA. There's often some pretty painless savings that can be made.

You will need to talk to your OH at some point about this - just because he's left the finances to you, does NOT absolve him of all responsibility as I bet the money's been spent on things for the home & family.

    Good luck!

    hi there

you really need to get BOTH heads out of sand here, your income is relitavely low comepared to the amount of debt you are in.

Your hubby needs to know about your CCs, and bring every single debt to light. both of you need to pull together and make some strong decisions on how to proceed.

You have debts of Approx 35k. Does your husband realise this

First things forst for gods sake cut the cards up. Do not use them at all now, you will never get out of debt while you are getting in,

also a big welcome and well done for finding us, things will get better, but you are simply going to get your heads together and heads down and work through this.

A challenge yes, but Im sure it will make you both stronger as a couple

Do you r SOA lets see what we can do to help.

    Lynz
    xx
