First time buyer

Hi, I need some advice.

Me and my partner are looking for a mortgage on the property we currently rent. I earn 17k and my partner approx 8k. I have applied for a mortgage in principle through skipton building society but have been declined. im now frightened to try anywhere else. does this mean we will never get a mortgage? we don't have the best credit score but its not awful! someone told me it is possible to get a mortgage but pay a higher rate does anyone now if this is true? the rent at the moment is £500 pm and we easily afford this without the help of benefits. its so frustrating ploughing money into something you know you can afford to own!!

Have you thought of going to see a mortgage advisor?

How much did you apply for? What % is your deposit?

    Why Skipton?
