Bankrupt in Jan 2010, why am I still getting Notice of Arrears!

I was declared bankrupt back in Jan 2010.
There were about 6 creditors (either credit cards or bank loans)
Every 6 months or so, I keep getting a Notice of Sums in Arrears from Santander (for an unsecured personal loan that was included in the bankruptcy).
The wording is standard form letter asking me to contact them as soon as possible to discuss missed payments, as they would like to help with any financial difficulties......blah, blah, blah.
The sum outstanding is also increasing as they keep adding "outstanding interest!
Why do they keep sending me this, should they be sending this and can I stop them from sending anymore!!!
Many thanks
Neal

have you not contacted them to tell them about your bankruptcy and give them the details of it (date, court, ref number) and tell them that the debt was included in the bankruptcy and to update their records accordingly? And add that if they continue to send such letters you'll inform the Official Receiver that dealt with your bankruptcy and that they will be in trouble..

Thanks for the swift reply.
I did telephone them the first time that they wrote to me & they told me it was standard procedure & to just ignore it! So I had been.....until now.
So I take it that they should not be doing this then?

It's usual for Santander.
They shouldn't really be doing it, but you will waste more time and effort than it's worth arguing the toss with them.
As long as the debts are correctly marked on your credit file, then it doesn't matter anything in the grand scheme of things.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Yeah, I wouldn't accept that now at all!! You've got to get heavy with them now, call their credit control dept to tell them no more letters..and then put it in writing in the strongest possible terms. The insolvency laws state explicitly that a creditor such as this cannot and should not chase a bankrupt for payment so remind Santander that they are breaking the law by sending you these letters and that you will inform the OR that dealt with your case and pass on these demand letters to him/her. I'm sure that will sort the matter out once and for all!0

I would only contact them in writing and also it is a good idea for you to get a copy of your credit file from all 3 credit reference agencies.

I've had similar with Santander. I went br in 2009. I simply ignore them.2019 MFW No. 74 £13700/£30000 (45.66%)
12k in 2018 No. 98 £6274.19/£18000 (34.85%)
BTL (start) £97440.00 (current) £68000.00
Residential (start) £275000.00 (current) £268000.000 -
Thanks for the replies. I'm going to get the latest copy of my credit reports & do a clean up.
Once I've checked the entries, I'll contact them and threaten them with the OR.
Cheers, Neal0
