Applying for new jobs while suspended

Hi
I am posting this on behalf of a friend who is currently suspended from work, is he ok applying and attending interviews for a new job or will he get in trouble from his old work for doing this. Will he have to inform the new job that he is currently suspended. Thank you for any replies.

Your friend is free to apply for other positions. The only problem I can see is that if he is offered a new position and accepts it before the suspension is resolved then any reference from the current employer would reflect this.0
