The fillings will not last until you have a night guard made and fitted and you are wearing successfully , and the erosion is sorted. You should mention to the dentist about your grinding at night.

Enamel that is being eroded is difficult to work with as things don't stick well. If it is not your diet then things like hiatus hernia or gastric reflux come to mind things like obesity, smoking , spicy foods stress can make this worse.

Crowns will destroy good enamel and until your bruxing, erosion is controlled there is no permanent solution.

Stress also makes bruxing worse. So discuss with whichever dentist having a gumshield made, make any lifestyle changes and book any investigations 're stomach acid problems and then once that is settled something that lasts might be able to be done for your teeth.

I did express my concern about teeth grinding problem at my check up app yesterday.

And like I said she asked me if I wore a night guard, which I couldn’t have done, as so far was never diagnosed with this condition. So when I was leaving I remembered to ask - as to how do I get this guard (sportshop?J The dentist said - when you come back for the treatment of that one front tooth we will discuss this.

But is it even logical to have only 1 tooth treated, when all 4 need correction anyway?

And I had all 4 of them covered with composit by my previous dentist before…

I have excluded anything acidic or staining out of my diet since I had this issue (dry white wine, red wine, cz of tanin, acidic juices, spicy food). I’ve stopped using Corsodyl also.

I smoke socially, but not every day, even though I shall not do that either.

I have always been slim (no extra pounds), but yes, lately stress levels have been higher than usual..

I understand, there is no perfect solution when a problem is complex.

All I’m trying to do is save my teeth before it is too late.

It's pointless doing anything about the others until the situation is stabilised because the fillings will come off very quickly.

It seems sensible to have your filling done then have the impressions to make the bite guard, have that fitted and then review from there. Only a dentist can make and fit a night guard properly.

It sounds as if your problems are not a quick fix but need the long term view.

I would be weary of recommending Oasis. In my experience they are one of the worst at pushing patients into private treatment.

Well my previous ones lasted up to a year at least, without having an extra protection of a shield at night.
So, fingers crossed, with a night guard, this will improve.

Out of two evils this is better than have damaged front teeth (IMHO).

The incisors are fine and fillings did not suffer so far apart from tiny chips, and I think, that is because the whole surface of them were covered as opposed to a half a tooth (which others two are), that’s when they start to crumble much quicker in my observation.

I have already made changes to my diet and am meticulous with dental hygiene, and it will be nice to have smooth normal coloured teeth again, I don’t think it’s vanity (doesn‘t matter Nhs or privately done).

PS Have not heard of Oasis. Will be nice to just be referred to an experienced dentist in my area, who people actually went to.
