Do I pay the financial adviser for sorting mortgage

Quick question.

We pulled out of a house process, we had an independent financial adviser get the mortgage approval. However, as the purchase is not going ahead do we still pay her. I would want to pay her once we have sorted a house not before, the mortgage is valid for 6 months only, please help!

Thanks
Missy

You should have been issued with an Initial Disclosure Document which will detail any fees payable and when.

Usually a fee agreement would be signed too.

Key Facts Illustration should also disclose fees.

Check your paperwork and see what is stated.

Thank you for your answers I did sign, however the paperwork was kept by the mortgage adviser.
My first mortgage was put through on a bigger LTV, I signed the paper work, however they refused and asked me to put more money. I did so, then the mortgage was approved, however I have never been in to sign the paper work. on this paper work it does say that the financial adviser is entitled to a non refundable fee.

I think your going to have to pay then.
But look at this from a moral view (putting aside any legal points), you asked an advisor to find you a mortgage and apply for it - they have done all the work... why souldnt you have to pay?
