Re-mortgage advice needed, starting new job

Hi all, I really need some advice as unsure what to do.
I've been with Britannia for my mortgage for many years now, never missed a payment and I have a very good employment history.
I went to Britannia to enquire about additional lending for home improvements. I wanted another £20000. At present I have £75000 in equity.
All was going through ok but I have just got another job and I am 3 weeks into my 4 weeks notice at my present employer.
Britannia know about this and asked me for my acceptance letter, which I emailed across, and my works contract, which I also emailed across.
Now I have been told I must have a reference from my new employer, which I don't start with until May 1st. Britannia have asked my if I could get their details so they can confirm my salary, start date ect.
I feel so bad about doing this as I haven't even started there yet. How bad is it going to look, if I email or phone my new HR department and ask for a reference before I've even done my first shift. On top of this, our builder has already started the improvements process and expects to do the rest of the work in mid July.
I really don't know what to do. Should I contact my new employer or wait a while. My mortgage offer stays open till mid July but I'm worried I might loose out on the 2.99% interest rate.

Shouldn't be a problem, Brittannia just need confirmation that you are actually due to start with the new employer, and you have not just produced a contract yourself on your PC at home!
Speak to your new employer and just confirm they are happy to do it, happens regularly.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thank you for the reply, I have emailed my new employer and explained the situation and also how embarrassed I am in having to ask for these details before even starting, just awaiting a response now.0
