Physical Metals SIPP UK Pension

Options
I have only found one SIPP pension in the UK that lets you hold physical precious metals.
CGIL is the metals broker, and DP Pensions provide the pension wrapper.

I'm doing due diligence on this prior to a potential pension transfer.

Can anyone recommend this? Or, do you know any other options for me to check out?

Many thanks in advance for any input:T

I haven't done it, but I did consider how I would get exposure to the gold price if I decided to.

I thought a physical gold ETF would be the best way for me.

ETFS Physical Gold, (PHGP) for example (not a recommendation).

Last time I mentioned a physical gold ETF somebody posted about naked shorts. What fashion trends have to do with it I don't know. The ETF is supposed to be backed by allocated bullion. In the example above, the trustee is Law Deb, and the custodian is HSBC. I take that to mean I am not buying derivatives.

Happy to be corrected if indeed the fund is gambling with investors assets, but I don't see why they need to since they holding the stuff and are only trying to track the gold price.

Might be appropriate for as much as 5% of the total value of all of your pensions. For much more than that small percentage it'd be a very high risk and generally very bad idea.

ETFs that hold physical metals are the more mainstream way of doing this and even for those it's not likely to be wise to go much into double digit percentages for most people.

Which of those do you work for?
  • I haven't found out yet how to reply to a single post, so will have to mention a thank you to all, your time and experience is very much appreciated.

I don't work for either company. As I said I'm seeking to find out if anyone is using the only physical metals SIPP Pension I've found. And if anyone knows of any others that I can check out.
I'm thinking of coming out of the stockmarket with my pension, and into metals, and doing due diligence on the companies mentioned as I consider a pension transfer.

    Thanks again:T

Into metals for the whole pension? A big leap up in risk level compared to stock market(s) and bond markets. I hope that you're many decades away from retirement if you go through with something so extreme. Or perhaps a professional metals trader.
