Son has managed to secure a part time job at the open but needs to be there no later than 8am.
Does anyone know of any buses which leave from Edinburgh city centre and go directly there?
I see Scotrail go from Waverley to Drem but first train seems to be 7.13 which may be too late by the time he gets connecting transport from the station to Muirfield.
Thanks.

Yes, the 124 Edinburgh/North Berwick goes right past the road end for the course. First seems to be about half six from Musselburgh or Haymarket.

I have attended every Open held in Scotland for the past 20 years or so (only as a spectator sadly!
) one of the main aspects of The Open that has to work really well is the transport to and from the course. The Muirfield Open is the closest one for me to attend as it is only 8 miles from home, however, I will be leaving my car at home and taking advantage of Scotrail's Golflink service which they operate for all the Opens held in Scotland.
There are regular shuttle buses from the station at Drem to meet every train. Scotrail also operate additional trains during the week of The Open so taking the train may be easier for your son. It's a 20 minute train journey then 10 minutes in a shuttle bus rather than an hour and 15 minutes+ on a bus.

Hope that helps.0
