This is one of the best and safest schemes available, unless you are an MP, Join ASAP. Talk to your payroll/pension office and at the same time
get quotes for transferring. The police pension is at least as good as
the NHS one.The only thing that is constant is change.0 -
Thanks for the advice, its all coming in where there is no option but to join as all companies who employ over a certain number of people will automatically put you in the pension scheme now and you can ? then opt back out and i am struggling with the decision. Thanks and ill look into it asap0

If you don't join you are throwing away free money from your employer worth ~15% of your salary.0 -

As a taxpayer I thank you for the possible hundreds of thousands of pounds you have donated to the country. However, from an individual point of view, it would probably rank as your worst financial decision ever. Get in there now.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

Like D, I have to agree you have saved us Thousands of pounds (and lost yourself thousands of pounds) by not joining up to now.
We can tell you how much (but you probably don't want to know) if you tell us how many years you haven't been joined up, and your approx salary.0
