Hi all, just found some out of date marzipan (jan 2013) is it ok? Would you still use it? It's vacume packed in foil package from waitrose. If so what would you make?
Also out of date dried fruit? How long is too long?

I would use the marzipan. In fact I think I did use an out of date pack on last years Xmas cake.
I would also use dried fruit until I ran out.
I am still alive after all these years of eating all sorts of things others would throw out.

Eat it, it will be fine, it wouldn't have gone off on the stroke of midnight Jan 31st, like mad Mary, I've got this far!0

It is usually 'best before' rather than 'eat by' dates..
If food past its date killed people I have a list I'd be feeding it too!
It might be worth soaking the fruit in apple juice overnight as it does get very dry.
If marzipan is a bit dry add a tiny bit of almond oil and knead it well.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thank you, I try not to worry about these things but sometimes I can't help but over think it.

Just wondering how to get the marzipan to mix through the other ingredients? Would I cream it in after butter and sugar?Happiness is wanting what you have...0

You freeze it and mix it in, in chunks. You get squishy marzipanny bits and there's no creaming required
