NHS HR Interview Test

Good evening,

I recently applied for a HR position within the NHS and I am so thrilled to have been shortlisted for interview. The letter I received mentions that I will have to do a test but it says nothing about what kind of test. As it is a HR role I assume it is some form of computer based test and googling it has turned up a number of results that the NHS use such as maths/english/Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

My question is has anyone here recently taken a test for a position within the NHS and if so what did it entail - particularly the Excel and Word parts? If anyone has any information I would be very grateful for your help.

As with most of us, the chance of an interview is a huge thing for me and I really really want this job! :)

Just a quick bump to see if anyone can help, thanks
  • Take a look back at past posts - use search tab at the top
sure there has been something similar in past

Whilst I've not been to an NHS interview myself, a common one for admin work at the mo is this 'Alphanumeric' testing on the computer I'm finding - see if you can find practice type one on google?

Go with the flow you can over practise anyway
Good luck with the interview :)

Thank you for your help. I have been practicing my Excel as I am a bit rusty. I have just been creating tables, graphs and forumlas as I can't see that they would want anything other then those for excel (I hope). As for word, I am a dab hand at that anyway and have used it recently so I am not worried about that too much so will just have a play about to make sure I remember how to format etc. Any maths or English test I am not too worried about as they are usually quite basic.

I will most certainly post what the test entails as anything I have found has been quite vague so it might be useful for others in the future.

Hi - dependent on the role we use psychometric - numeracy, verbal reasoning, etc. For admin roles we may have basic word/excel tests. For HR roles we test general employment law knowledge. Basically we would be testing to see if your skills are as detailed in your application so just make sure you can do whatever you have said you can do!
  • Hi,

i have just applied to a hr job and received the same info, what role is it that your applying for i think it may be the same one!
