AFAIK there is no piece of legislation which says you must have X fire drills per year.
However the (fire) risk assesment that is a legal requirement may decide that a fire drill is necessary to reduce the risk to an acceptable level

Last place I worked we didn't have a fire drill in the 7 years I worked there. The alarm was tested every Friday. The only time we evacuated was when it was set off accidentally. Mind you this was a factory with lots of exits from where ever you were, and every one was inducted properly.

He has worked there for over 9 months but has never had a fire drill, where they evacuate the building. Is this legal ? If not, who can he report this too ? For info, the company's focus is on productivity and not following due process; so if he can report them, he would like to do so. The company has very little focus on staff well-being. He and lots othe others are looking for other employment.

You don't say exactly how long he has been there, but I assume from the "over 9 months" that it is not long enough to get employment protection, so does he really want to be stiring up trouble then finding himself let go without another job to go to?

And if there was a fire does the person know the way out the building? Where to go on evacuation?

Where there is blame there is a claim :rotfl:

Has he brought the subject up with management? Maybe the are forgetting about the other shift. Where I work I sometimes think that they don't realise that nighttime exists and that the site needs to be as safe and secure as it is in the daytime.
