Hello everyone, I was recommended this site through a friend.
Basically I bought a road tax disc from millenium cars in nottingham, a dealership.
The road tax disc was meant to be £30 and I thought a very good saving as my car is very small.
However I recently got a letter from the DVLA stating that the cheque milenium cars sent the dvla bounced.
They said that if i failed to pay in 28 days for the tax disc I would be held liable so I paid it.
However millenium have not refunded me or even apologised.
When I was reading the local newspaper yesterday I saw their 'owner group' has apparently gone into administration...
Would i be able to still ask/demand why this happened and get the money back they owe me? or as their in admin is their no chance?
My friend seems to think its all a big ploy and he said they even have banners outside the dealership advertising for new salesman..
What are my consumer rights and does anyone know what laws they have broken? that i can use in a letter to them?/

When you say you bought the tax disc from them, did you buy a car at the same time?" (It is quite normal for car dealers to get the vehicles taxed at time of sale).
If not then I don't see why you would buy a tax disc from anyone OTHER then DVLA? You can NOT save on tax ... because it is a TAX; the price is the price and NOONE can legally offer it cheaper.0

You can save on the tax if the dealer is willing to pay some of it as is often the case with VAT.Eden Vauxhall will pay the VAT cost of your new car* or £2,013 minimum part exchange** plus 5 years 0% APR*** on new Vauxhall vehicles
Provided the full amount goes to the government, they don't care where the money comes from.0

Send the car dealership a Letter Before Action requesting they refund the tax you have now paid plus any out of pocket expenses.
If they refuse/ignore instigate a small claim at Money Claim Online when, of course, the amount you will be claiming will increase to reflect the cost of bringing the claim.
This information needs to go in the Letter Before Action;keep copies of all related paperwork and, of course, the letter you send.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson Janice 1964-2016 Janice 1964-2016

Just write it off - you've bought a tax disc from a dodgy company who clearly are in the process of going bust and restarting to avoid their debts. You'll get nothing back, and anything you spend chasing it will be throwing good money after bad.0

OP, if you paid by card, you could consider either a Section 75 refund or a chargeback.
Otherwise, as ThumbRemote says, forget it.0

Where will this get you, company has gone into administration, waste of postage and fee for small claims court if you go down this route.
Even if you went to small claims and won , how would you enforce the judgement against a defunct company?0

Did you not read the part where they are in administration, they can't be taken to court.Send the car dealership a Letter Before Action requesting they refund the tax you have now paid plus any out of pocket expenses.

Hi everyone yes I have a citroen which I bought from millenium the dealer and they said due to the vehicle engine size it would just be £30 for road tax.
I wanted to save some money and bought this, unfortunately I paid in cash to the dealer at the time.
What do i need to put or how should a legal letter before action look?? Sorry i have never written one0

So have you been sent a letter from the DVLA saying the cheque has bounced?
Or have they run off with your cash without leaving you a car?0
