Hi all...really hope someone can help!

When I click on teh download dialogue box to 'open' a word file, MS word launches, but then no page is displayed.

This is a new problem for me, as previously , all has worked just fine.

Does anyone know what to do??

THANKS ALL!

Try clicking 'Save' first, then open the saved file in Word
How do I add a signature?

thanks for the tips..I have saved the file and then tried to open, but still get no document display (although MS word opens).

I'm wondering if some add-on is interfering, but I can't think what.

any more help very gratefully received..thanks!

Do you know the name of the file ?

Search for the name of the file and right click and choose maybe open as.

I use xp but should be similar for other operating systems.

yes...I have found the file on my hard drive...and clicked 'open as' (word).
MS word then launches fine, but the doc does not open..i just get a blank MS word screen.

    Any ideas...PLEASE!!!

Do you have the MS Word 2007 compatibility patch. I have Word 2003 and once some docs wouldn't open and I was told to install the 2007 compatibility patch and this seemed to sort the problem. :)

+1 for the above - especially if you're using a 2003 version of Word. Do the Word documents you have downloaded end in ".docx"? If so that may be your problem as they are the later Word version docs.

yes..that could be the solution..they are docx documents.

will do a search for the compatability patch and see if that helps.

    thanks to all!...much appreciated.
