i think the codes are usually only valid for the account of the email address/person who they are sent to.
my friend got a lot of Virgin Trains codes that could be used on the trainline, GNER, Q-Jump etc. she gave them to me and when i tried to use them it refused as i wasn't the person they were sent to.
