Hiya
I've recently moved to the Newtownabbey/Monkstown area and need to register with a new GP. Anyone any recommendations? I know my old doc had quite a large wait time ( sometimes 1 week +) for an appointment. I have a few on going health issues so trying to find a doc who will be able to see me in a shorter frame if possible.
Any suggestions welcome :-)
Many thanks!

One to avoid - Abbotts Cross medical practice in whiteabbey.
We are with them and the wait is woeful - normally 2-3 weeks to get an appointment. Cannot even get an appointment at the moment as the computer systems have been being updated for the last week and a half. Not good when you work.
No open surgery and although the doctors are great the receptionists seem to think they have the medical degree too when you ring - I have heard this of other practices too.
We are thinking of moving practices but are unsure as to how easy this is to do if you are not actually moving yourself.0 -
Thanks for the reply.
I've been told a few in the area have wait times of 2 weeks+, makes my old practice look great at a week!
I think it's simple enough to change if you haven't moved house but I could be wrong.
Someone told me to try the one located in the abbey centre but they have on their website the wait for a routine appointment is also 2weeks! Emergencies may been seen on the day.
Hope you get sorted.0 -
Try Old School surgery Greenisland, never had any bother and is handy enough to your area0

You can move doctors without moving house. I did it and it was no hassle at all. Just rang around a few places I had heard good reports about, called in with my medical card and had a new patient appointment. The place I'm with now is so much better.
Vote with your feet!
Unfortunately it's nowhere near you so can't help!0
