I made my first payments this month too but am going it alone!
The first few weeks after I sent my letters were a nightmare! The phone was ringing about 20 times a day, I just couldn't answer. But it's all gone quiet now

LOL, not my choice!!!! Stepchange and National debt line both said I didn't have enough spare money to enter in a DMP with them.
The thought of it was terrifying but as you say I am in control and even now, less than a month in, I'm feeling betterLBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors

I started a DMP with Stepchange in 2010 and it was the best decision I've ever made. We are all reluctant to admit things are out of control but the sooner you get on a DMP the sooner you can get rid of the debt. Our resistance to our credit file being affected keeps us from going on a DMP but the fear is unfounded- this path is going to save you.
I am now debt free and the defaults have made no difference to me and will drop off my file in 4 more years.
Now I live without credit, I dont buy things I dont need, I have this years holiday booked and I have money saved.
Throw everything you can at your debt and you will watch it melt away...LBM Nov 10 owing £34,043 - (DMP with Stepchange)
