I won't be bullied into buying things we don't need and can't afford. And if the new fella tries any of that, he's out long before I hit the £20k mark, never mind the £30k mark!I joined the 21k debt free in 2 years head to head challenge 12 December 06

great thread - where do i start!!
consolidation
not understanding money and thinking that was my excuse
buy now pay later without having the money or hope of having the money - so o/d to pay it off avoiding high interest
kidding myself all was fine
taking no responsibility for my finances what so ever
head in the sand syndrome0 -
1. not reading my statements when they came - just put them in a drawer
2. never knowing how much money was in my current account until i got a letter saying i was being banged with a penatly for going overdrawn.
3. Getting a credit card and moving debts onto it with not much intention of paying back in a hurry.
4. paying account fees (addtitions account - what a load of old.... crap!)
5. not having a real understanding on interest rates
6. upping my loans to get out of immdiate financial problems
7. upping my overdraft to get out of immediate financial problems
8. not taking help/advice from family/OH when offered (too proud)
I better stop now before boring everyone

Great thread and I agree with most of the above.
1) Consolidate and not pay it all where it was meant to go.
2) Consolidate and not cut up the credit cards.
3) Consolidate and continue with using the credit cards :-(
4) Use money/shopping as a tool to relieve stress/upset/anything
5) Buy something, unless I have gone home and considered if I really need it and then gone back.
6) Buy something on credit
7) never have a credit card again (can you tell they are my problem  )
8) go out when I can't afford it, I will now tell the truth.
9) lie to my DH when he asks if we're ok for money.
10) open the next catalogue!!!

Not getting a loan to pay for something rather than using an overdraft but then spending the overdraft anyway.
Spending £50+ on a night out just because it was the weekend
Consolidating, spending on cards, then consolidating
I think that having debt and trying to manage and of course this site, has made me even more aware of NOT doing these things!Official DFW Nerd Member 507'Proud to be dealing with my debts'0
