My second rotary airer has just broken so that is two in a couple of years. Neither were cheap, but they appear to be made so that they can break so they cannot be fixed - the plastic connector bits just snap easily and though I've tried cannot manage to fix them. Hate to throw things away and hate to waste money like this so ...
Can anyone recommend a good quality and long lasting one (perhaps without feeble plastic bits)? Or has anyone made one of their own? Any other options (I don't have two pole-like structures to have a long line sadly).
thanks.

Do you have 2 walls you could screw 2 sturdy hooks into? they would do the job for a line.
Or one of those retractable lines should work.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I have a Vileda one that was on offer in Argos for about £30. Had it 2+ years and it's still in the same nick as it was when I bought it. But I do cover it when not in use and it goes away int he shed during the winter.
The cover however... has not stood the test of time unfortunately:beer: Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -
I have the Brabantia airer that Lakeland sell. It is very sturdy and well made. I have had it for at least 6 years possibly longer. I put mine away in the winter because we get high winds here and it is a dead loss trying to dry anything outside here in the winter.

I have a cheapo one from Wilkos - I think it was £10. I do cover it although it has stayed outside all winter, and it's been fine for a couple of years now.0

I'm wondering if it gets a lot of sun, as that can make the plastic brittle. I've had my airer for about 20 years but it only gets a few hours sun (if it's out!) each day even in mid summer. I also cover it when not in use and as SaLoGo says, the covers don't last well.0

Do you have a fence post/ wall that you can attached the line to - using your defunct airer as the other end? That's what MrGubGub did0

I'm another with a Brabantia. Thinking about it, I have had it now for 22 years!! I guess I shouldn't have said that as no doubt it will break now.
They are expensive when first buying them though.
Mine lives outside all year round, no cover. And I live on the top of a hill so it gets a little windy at times. I don't leave it "up" when it is not loaded with clothes though.
Hope you find something suitable.

Another vote for brabantia here. Mine came from costco about 6 or 7 years ago. Cheap plastics are affected by uv lightPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Our local Aldi had some rotary airers available when I was there on Thursday; I think they were Brabantia.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
