Amicus Horizon:ridiculous quote for outside work

I'm not sure whether this is in the right section...but here goes.
I've just had a letter from Amicus Horizon who manage my flat (I own my flat...the other 3 are council).I pay a management fee and a service charge. The letter states that work needs to be done on the outside guttering, that being replaced, some small repairs and the top third of the flats to be repainted (there are two ground floor flats and two first floor). It states that I am liable for 25% of the costs which as I recall was mentioned when I bought the place.Their quote for this work is a staggering £9,995....of which I have to pay nearly £2,500 !!! There is no way that I can afford this kind of money if I have to pay it.The letter stated one quote from one company. Can I request quotes from other companies ? What happens if I refuse to pay on the grounds that I think it's way too much money for the amount of work involved ? Thanks.

These excessive bills are common with ex council properties. You can challenge it - more information is available at the Leasehold Advisory Service website.

Just contacted the Leasehold Advisory Service (thanks for the link) and had a really good conversation with someone there who's put me in the right direction in progressing with this.I did a little digging too...as in getting my own quotes for the work...so Amicus wanted to charge £2,700 for scaffolding.....two other companies for the same job quoted £1000 and £1200....!!!!!0
