This is of course a cashback deal where you pay up front and trust the company to give you the money back, in instalments. So it's 'free' as long as you don't mind a £30 a month outlay and are meticulous about claiming the cashback at the right time. Plenty of helpful information on cashback deals can be found on the Mobiles board. The crucial information on this offer is (from the O2 site):
12 Months FREE on O2 200 min + 250 sms 12M
A credit of £111.00 will be raised automatically by cheque within 2 months if you do not cancel your contract. You will receive a text message when this credit has been successfully raised. To gain the remainder of your line rental / cash back please send your 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th monthly bills within 30 days of the date stated on the relevant airtime bill, to us and we will credit you by cheque with £62.25 each time.
This will save you £360.00 over the 12 month duration of the contract. In effect this means that your average line rental per month over the contract period is £0.00 per month.
Please note: the above calculations are based on the basic line rental of the tariff and do not include itemised billing. [=99p per month]0 -
Please can you tell me how this work. Do I simply cancel at the end of 12 months? What is the charge after this?
Edit: just cross posted with above - do not need details now. thanks.0 -
I've had three contracts with these now and always received the money back. My top tip for this is to put multiple reminders in both your mobile phone and Microsoft Outlook at both home or work (if you use it that is), also use a calender if you have one and mark out the dates when you need to send off the bills. If you do not wish to continue after the 12 month period give your 30 days notice after you receive the 11th bill. If you have the discipline this is a very cheap way of using a mobile phone.
On this deal the first credit is automatic thereafter you send off the relevant monthly bills and they will send you a cheque for the line rental you have paid.
If you are worried about them not meeting their end of the bargain take copies of the web pages detailing the contract, although this will all be in the terms and conditions and you have a cooling off period during which you can cancel the contract so you do the get the chance to check the small print before you commit.
Strictly speaking it is not free as you are forgoing the amount of interest you would have earned on the line rental, however this would not be much. There is also the charge of 99p for itemised billing.

No problem

Thanks to Fatal Swan & sennen for adding detail, still new to this

Just to say that you might not actually get any cashback via quidco. they will track it, but will likely decline it after a 14 day period (hence no cashback and cant return).
they offered a same deal on virgin sim 2 weeks ago. read the mobile phones, thread. decline all the tracked cashback, and people have been having problems trying to claim from this company. Never actually bought anything from them, but IMHO, if you're going to do a cashback deal, do check the reputation of the company and they likelihood that they will actually pay up.0 -
Ive had all my money paid out by Quidco, they are reliable - including for mobile contracts from CPW and E2Save. Currently awaiting £100 Quidco for my latest 3 Contract which is now validated (meaning the retailer has confirmed they will pay), perhaps there is a problem with the sim only deals?0

I use both Quidco and Rpoints - Always find Rpoints tracks better (don't know why) and then I HCP (Highest Cashback Promise) against Quidco anyway0

Not necessarily. The system they use seems to be fundametally broken, because they have declined a cashback for me even though it was tracked, blaming cookies. As I see it, all the cookies do is establish the link between you, the retailer and Quidco to begin with. If someone can explain to me how cookies can be responsible for subequent refusal to pay cashback, I'd be very grateful.Ive had all my money paid out by Quidco, they are reliableTime is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0
