Hi again. Just to explain a little more from earlier post...
The accrual system means holiday entitlement is built up over the first year of employment. This means that for every month you work, you become entitled to one twelfth of your annual entitlement. So, after six months, you would be entitled to a half of your annual entitlement.

Depends on when the holiday year runs for your firm... usually 1 Jan to Dec 31, or via financial year April 1 to March 31.

As you have started part way through the year check holiday year as if April you'd be entitled to 11/12ths of that year's holiday entitlement and if Jan-Dec you'd be entitled to 2/3 of holiday entitlement for that year.

Usually the firm's admin dept or office staff should let you know how many days you're allowed during your first year.

But of course many employers are flexible so worth asking, esp if you say the holiday is already booked. Most firms honour that. Then you'd have to stick to your holiday days and book a trip asap.

    Hope this helps.

From personal experience when I have ever started a new job, the employer has always honored any holiday booked. However this was covered at interview stage when employer asks have you any questions and I replied I had already had a holiday booked. I would suggest you have a quiet word and ask nicely if it is possible to take time out. Good luck. They can only say no and you have nothing to loose. :)
