H&M not accepting giftcards today

Tried to buy something with a refund card in H&M today but the sales assistant said half an hour earlier, management had said there was a problem with the system. However she didnt even try to swipe it and see if the problem was sorted.
Anyone else have this happen today. could there be something afoot at H&M?
