Underpaid in wages... Company won't pay?

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong thread but I'm just looking for some advice. I work in social care and I have a contract for 35 hours p/w. In my pay slip they have paid me for 28 hours even though I'm contracted 35. For that week, I did work 28 hours however I wasn't offered to go into any other services for those extra 7 hours I am due as stated in my contract. When I went over to speak to them about it, they said that because I did two sleepovers that week, they have fulfilled their obligations even though I don't get paid an hourly rate for my sleepovers (sleepovers are completely separate from my hourly rate) and the sleepovers aren't written into my contract anyway. Before leaving the office, I explained that as I'm on minimum wage, 7 hours is alot for me to be down and wanted a cheque for the 7 hours. I got a phone call an hour later and they stated they would pay it in my next pay but wouldn't entertain giving me a cheque. Does anyone know if this is allowed?? I have an appointment with CAB on Monday but was really just looking to see if anyone else has had this problem before and how was it resolved?? Many thanks. x

The things is they are going to pay and are rectifying the mistake, most companies can only "pay" when payroll runs, because of Tax rules, so that is why you cannot be paid until next wage day. However most companies will give you an "advance" on the next wage, if the mistake is theirs and then take it off in the wage.
That sounds complicated but basically your next weeks/ months pay will be plus your 7 hours shortfall. If you need the money sooner they may consider an advance on this wage of an equivalent amount to 7 hours pay.0
