    I've just read about the [new?] property situation in Andalucia [Spain,not Hartlepool!]....where re-po'd properties were being seized by the local council from banks, and free land and free building materials being dished out to qualifying folk to build their own homes.

    Very populist, was one comment...very popular with ordinary people, was another!

    Obviously very anti-capitalist, but to my eye's very much what is needed to happen throughout the world where poorer people are paying the price for greedy capitalism.

    For it is greedy capitalism..that has led to our present position.

    Mervyn King says much that is similar.

    Too much power lay vested in the banks, and they abused it, but it is we ordinary folk who pay...we lose our sources of income, our homes, and for some, their lives...but what happens to the bankers?

    I don't think the initiative in Spain will be allowed to last.

    And it would never happen here, because the general population are so in love with property assets...to the extent they forget what the real basics are all about.

    But, what happens when, as in Spain ad elsewhere, the 'security' which underpins our capitalist dreams, is taken away?

    What happens when we end up with 30% unemployment?

    Oh yes, 'get on yer bikes' was our government's answer at one time! Very helpful!
    No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......
