G'mornin'....:)
Just read what to me is a real Grrrr!
On this forum, we all to frequently find ourselves the objects of moral vilification.
Yet, I have just read, the victims of the collapse of the Comet retail chain, who were made redundant at the flick of a switch, have won their case in the Tribunal....that the owners of Comet made them redundant unlawfully. In other words, Comet did not comply with the required regulations with regards to redundancy.
The amount owed to these poor folk amounts to many tens of millions.
Now, because Comet itself was sold to an asset stripper, who did just that..the compensation owed will now have to be funded by the taxpayer!
I am not against the compensation award in any way, shape or form......
I do, however, feel it is a great pity the Receivers cannot order the asset strippers to restore the funds back to where they came from.......much as a Receiver would do, if a personal Bankrupt had been found to have salted away assets to others, pre-BR?
So, OpCApita [the private equity asset strippers] make many millions, and have no liability whatsoever towards the unfortunate shop assistants....and we all pick up the bill that, morally, OpCapita should be made to pay.
And to think, some contributors to the MSE forums feel Bankrupts should be made to pay everything back regardless?
But, doubtless, they would also side with the asset stripper?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-27829278No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
