Friday 19th April - What small DFW things will you do today??!

Posts: 7,867 Forumite
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:
Morning everyone :wave: happy Friday :j another resting day for me & I need to rest as didn't yesterday and ended up feeling pretty rotten
Small things though....
* email housing appeal for dd
* [STRIKE]checked banking[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]did VSP & updated sig[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]updated GC spends[/STRIKE] - doing well this month & think I will only need fruit/veg & milk for the rest of the month :T
* check onepoll - I will get to payout!!!
* spend £1 on something for my cc so I can get back my interest free period again!
* look at my seedlings
* plant some more seeds if I feel up to it
* Oil two of our worktops
* fill gap around window frame with mastick
* all meals from stores - moussaka tonight as oh made a fakeaway last night. Sushi
* go to gp later for sickness cert - am likely to only get SSP for this last week
* freeze 2 portions of mince
* went through clothes & have a pile for CS seriously am never going to wear them again. Worked out what I have and what I would like to update my wardrobe
Ok I feel exhausted looking at this list! Have a happy day y'all x

Morning DFW-Ninjas oldies and newbies,
DNM: Rest, honey!!!!
It's my day off and, for once, the sun is shining. PayDay yesterday and I finally got paid £800(!) I was owed by a company so that went straight to pay the debt. This has brought my debt down to a couple of quid over £3000; I've paid off 75% of my debt!
Yesterday we went to the theatre to see "Birds of A Feather" on £10 tickets, parked in the city for £2 and took our own cans of juice and packets of crisps. It was absolutely brilliant. I haven't laughed so much in ages.I totally stopped drinking and pubbing five years ago and took up £10 ticket theatre-going and enjoying the great outdoors. Saved myself about £100 a month since then. (I was hardly ever drunk but I used to spend a lot on drinks for others, pub grub and bar snacks!)
TODAY I WILL:
- Buy supermarket petrol this weekend after price cuts due at Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco. (Link)
- Do Nectar AdPoints. (Link) Made 150 points so far this week.

- Call one credit card company and cancel my third card which has a zero balance.
- Use Quidco Mobile App to check-in at shops as I walk through the shopping centre for free cashback, no spend required. You get 5p-10p for each shop you stand outside. (Link)

- Find cheap secondhand DVD for OH.

Good afternoon (where it is here) from Thailand.
I haven't done anything significant but am on my way (5 pm. now over here) to my first no spend day in twelve years of living in Thailand.
Tpday is the final day of somgkraan(Thai new year) in Pattaya. Everybody throws water over each other and it is inescapable.
I hate songkran festivities and have decided not to leave the house today and instead catch up on my reading, DVDs as well a organizing my second bedroom.
So far no money spent and no intention of leaving the house until tomorrow morning.0 -

Hi Friday people,
MS things done so far today:
*Cleaned house & used the last of my bottle of Stardrops which has lasted me for well over a year! (In case you think I never do any cleaning.....I do a reasonably thorough house clean once a week, but diluting this stuff in an old spray bottle, it goes on for ever)
*Did surveys....inc one about football....despite knowing nothing about football & caring even less, I got right through it. Yippee! Points for me!
*Made more free plant labels from old plastic spread tubs.
*Gathered the rhubarb stems that got broken in the high winds yesterday & stewed them.
*Checked rest of veggies for damage/dryness....don't want to lose them now when everything's already so far behind. Important part of our food budget in the summer/autumn months.
*Started collecting loo roll tubes ready for sowing runner beans next month.
Still to do:
*Refer to April meal plans & write shopping list.
*Go through recipes for tomorrow (doing curry night for friends) & check every single ingredient in stock, rather than end up buying new 'just in case'.
*Hopefully take in the clothes I didn't get around to doing yesterday. Tacked already so shouldn't take too long on sewing machine.
*Decide what I'd like to do for my birthday that doesn't cost the earth.....although I'm a girl of simple tastes these days!
Think that's it for me today.......Oh, & forgot to mention that I found a bargain in 'Boyes'......this is a discount shop where you can sometimes find all sorts of treasures, but not sure that it's UK-wide, think it may be North East/Yorkshire/East Midlands. Anyway, spotted they had some cleanser for 99p (called 'Say yes to carrots'), organic ingredients, etc, & I thought I could remember seeing it in a magazine so bought a couple & have discovered it normally retails at £9-99 each. Whooo-hooo! It's bloomin' good stuff, too, feels expensive, so will be popping back to see if I can get a couple more.
Cheers for now, have a good weekend, everyone,
