Pension Administrators

Options
My wife worked for a company for 16 years between 1979 and 1995 and contributed to their pension scheme (final salary scheme she thinks) She is coming up to retirement in the next year and wants to start the "ball rolling" in organising her pension.

Over the past 3 weeks she has tried to telephone, sent emails/letters to the HR department but can never get hold of the person that she needs to speak to. Calls are never returned and emails replied to so doesn't know what to do next.

Is there any way in which she can find out the details of the pension administrators so that she can contact then direct? Unfortunately she doesn't have any of the origional pension documentation.

Thanks you for your help

Does your wife have any contact with any old colleagues who might have some info re the pension scheme? If there still is no response from the HR dept she should contact the Pensions Advisory people they may be able to help by contacting the relevant dept .

If your wife types the name of her former employer into Google - eg
Xco plc pension fund, it is possible that she might be able to get hold of a scheme booklet - example here http://www.mps-pension.org.uk/editorimages/members%20handbook.pdf

Here's some useful guidance from the Pensions Advisory Service, including a link to the Pension Tracing Service: http://www.pensionsadvisoryservice.org.uk/finding-a-lost-pension
