Ask your college as could be free to JSA claimants.0

Hi Peter
I am not sure why you would need PTLLS to be an NVQ assessor. As the PTLLS is for if you are delivering training courses. It would be worth having if you wish to do it, I have just done it myself but did my assessor course a few years ago but was never told I needed PTLLS aswell.
Where I live this course is not too expensive to do, just over £100 but I believe they are also changing it and calling it something else. I am not sure about funding but I would ask them what the relevance of doing the PTLLS would be to become a assessor.0 -
They said it would a benefit to have this and many companies are asking for this as well0

It's more dTtls (old PGCE) that is of benefit, but PTTLS, is highly beneficial.0 -

Contact Northern College Barnsley, this used to be free for adults who were unemployed. http://www.northern.ac.uk/ page 38. Ring up and ask them.0 -
I would but I live in Leeds,sorry0

Its an hour away and it may still be free. Its a train to Barnsley and a bus upto the college.
Where do they do it in Leeds? If you know where they do it, then ask at student services about finances. Good luck with it.0 -
JCP will not fund it because there is no guarantee of work from it. You can contact your local FE College and find out if you can either get fee remission as you are on JSA or if they have access to Skills Support for Unemployment which can fund it.0

If you get a job as an NVQ assessor, the college / organisation you work for may well pay for it, otherwise you can get a student loan for it. You will need to be doing some sort of teaching / tutoring inorder to do the qualification, even voluntary. Its usually part time, over 2 years, so I don't think it will be that expensive.0

They do fund it - or they used to as I went on a NVQ assessors course and was also offered the PTLLS.
Unfortunately, it turned out to be a complete waste of time as I needed candidates to assess to attain the nvq qualification - the college I attended were unable to find any!0
