Pharmacy driver

I am going to apply for a job as pharmacy driver, I know the basics like picking prescriptions up from doctors surgeries and delivery to customers but has anyone done this job?

I know I'll have to have my car in good condition to drive, also have business class insurance. But will I get mileage allowance? Not advertised in the vacancy.

I just did a quick google and found this, which you may have seen.
    Role and Responsibilities:

    · To provide a delivery service of medication to patients to ensure they receive the correct medication on time.
    · To comply fully with SOPs and service level agreements in order to ensure patient safety.
    · To keep accurate records of mileage and vehicle maintenance in order to ensure that management information is correct and the vehicle is fit for purpose
    · To be proactive in seeking new business opportunities and in promoting the delivery service to maintain and grow profitability.
    · To ensure delivery routes are well planned in order to minimise travelling time and cost.
    · To work with Senior Drivers and Branch Managers to ensure continuity of service when delivery driver colleagues are absent from work.

    Key Experience Knowledge and Skills:

    · Experience as a driver
    · Strong organisational skills
    · First class customer service skills and patient empathy
    · Ability to plan effectively, even when under pressure
    · Attention to detail, especially in keeping accurate records
    · A full valid UK driving license

It's likely you will also require a CRB and I expect they will provide a vehicle for you to do the deliveries, if not I would be very surprised if they did not provide mileage.

Knew someone who did this, as said van was supplied. He seemed happy enough in it.
